Kosta and Belere Plaku were escorted to their final home this Saturday, a day after the tragedy that shook the village of Vidhisht, Roskovec.

The couple was shot by their ex-son-in-law, Refit Buzi, who then forcibly took his ex-partner, Rozalinda Plaku.

In a statement to Euronews Albania, Kosta Plaku's brother recounted the first moments after the crime and raised strong accusations against the institutions, emphasizing that the family had long denounced the perpetrator's repeated threats.

He said that the conflict had started more than a year ago and that Rozalinda had also obtained a protection order, which, according to him, is still in force.

According to his testimony, despite the constant reports and threats, Buzi was left under house arrest and after his release he continued to send threatening messages to his family.

"This tragedy did not come only from the actions of one man, but also from the failure to enforce the law," he declared, demanding that institutions take responsibility for the way previous complaints were handled.

The victim's brother said he had not yet been able to speak with Rozalinda, who is traumatized after the hostage-taking.

The incident ended with the murder of the couple, while Buzi, after Rosalind's release and being surrounded by police forces, ended his life.
