 On August 12, 2026, the sky will offer one of the rarest astronomical phenomena of the decade, as a total solar eclipse will be visible in parts of Europe and the North Atlantic. Millions of people are expected to watch this special event, which will offer spectacular views, especially in northern Spain, Iceland, Greenland and along the path of the Moon's shadow.

In most of Europe, including the Balkans, the phenomenon will appear as a partial eclipse, while in areas where the central shadow of the Moon passes, the Sun will be completely covered for a little over two minutes. Experts advise that the observation be made only with special eclipse glasses, as looking directly at the Sun can cause serious eye damage.

According to foreign media reports, this will be the first total solar eclipse visible in parts of Europe in many years and is considered one of the most important astronomical events of 2026, attracting great interest from both scientists and astronomy enthusiasts.
