KFOR has announced that it is increasing its presence in the north of Kosovo after the September 24 attack on the police.

" In the light of recent developments, KFOR is also increasing its presence and activity in the north of Kosovo ," says KFOR's response to RTV21.

It is further reiterated that the goal of KFOR is to maintain a safe environment and freedom of movement for all people living in Kosovo.

"The decision comes after the violent attack on the Kosovo Police on September 24 and the increase in tensions in the region. This is a prudent step to ensure that KFOR has the necessary forces, capabilities and flexibility to fulfill its UN mandate to maintain a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all people who live in Kosovo.

KFOR will continue to act impartially for the benefit of security in Kosovo and the region. KFOR will continue to adjust its position, as needed" , says KFOR's response.

It is also said that troop reinforcements will follow from other allies.

"The UK is deploying around 200 soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment to join a contingent of 400 UK troops already exercising in Kosovo, and further reinforcements will follow from allies others", KFOR said among other things.

KFOR has requested a re-engagement in dialogue, as according to them it is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability for all communities.

"We call on Belgrade and Pristina to re-engage in EU-facilitated dialogue, which is the only way to achieve sustainable peace and stability for all communities. All parties should also refrain from inflammatory rhetoric, which is against it."
