Rapper Coolio - whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr. - passed away on Wednesday at the age of 59, according to TMZ. Coolio's manager, Jarez, told the outlet that the rapper was at a friend's house in Los Angeles when he got up to go to the bathroom. When he didn't return after a reasonable amount of time, the friend reportedly called out to him - but got no answer.

Distraught, the friend went into the bathroom and found Coolio on the floor. Doctors were called immediately, around 16:00 local time. After a suspected cardiac arrest, Coolio was pronounced dead at the scene. However, the official cause of death is still pending.

The rapper - who began his career in the '80s - rose to fame in 1995 after releasing 'Gangsta's Paradise', a song that was featured in the film 'Dangerous Minds' and earned him a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Performance best of solo rap.

His death comes just four days after he posted on Instagram his final performance in Texas, where many fans shared their condolences. He is survived by his six children and his ex-wife, Josefa Salina, whom he married in in 1996. The former couple separated four years later.
