The German President: We support the integration of the RMV into the EU, but reforms must be continued

With the highest state and military honors, President Stevo Pendarovski received the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank Walter Steinmeier, who is on an official visit to North Macedonia. In the face-to-face meeting, the two presidents discussed bilateral relations, the war in Ukraine and the economic crisis. 

President Stevo Pendarovski stated that he has received support from his German counterpart for his country's journey to the EU.

"This visit has its values ​​because it is happening at a time when we are facing a war in the European space. In this sensitive period, we have an inalienable need from great allies, one of them being Germany. We also talked about EU integration, which is also our key goal. In this regard, we received indisputable support from Germany. In economic terms, Germany remains one of our biggest allies" , said Pendarovski.

Steinmeier: We support the integration of the RMV into the EU, but reforms must be continued

The President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Skopje said that Germany strongly supports the integration of North Macedonia in the European Union, but also recalled the implementation of internal reforms.

"It is important for the RMV to continue with internal reforms. This reform process will continue even though your country can count on the support of Germany. The RMV is part of Europe and its membership will enrich the EU even more" , declared Steinmeier.

Steinnmeier: Continue the way you started

The President of Germany, Frank Walter Steinnmeier, addressed the members of the Parliament with a speech. On this occasion, he said that the road to the European Union is anything but easy, that difficult negotiations damage trust and patience and sometimes even overload it. But his request to the deputies and all the citizens of North Macedonia was:

“Vazhdoni me vendosmëri rrugën e procesit të anëtarësimit. Mos u ktheni në metrat e fundit. Këtu, në këtë Parlament, ju mund të bëni përsëri histori. Tani nuk është koha për t'u dhënë pas formulave të thjeshtuara dhe ngjyrimeve nacionaliste. Mos e humbisni qëllimin që keni ndjekur prej kaq kohësh, pranimin në BE, të cilin e keni synuar për shtatëmbëdhjetë vjet. Jam i sigurt se për rrugën  drejt Evropës ia vlen të hidhet hapi tjetër, i vështirë “, ka deklaruar Steinmeier.

Njerëzit do të jenë përfituesit kryesorë

Procesi i anëtarësimit në BE duhet të sjellë përmirësime konkrete për njerëzit e të gjithë Ballkanit Perëndimor. Kjo kërkon reforma politike dhe ekonomike si dhe reforma në gjyqësor nga të cilat njerëzit përfitojnë në jetën e tyre të përditshme. Maqedonia e Veriut është në rrugën e duhur, ka thënë Steinmeier.

Anëtarësimi në BE do të hapë dyert për qytetarët e Maqedonisë së Veriut në tregun e përbashkët evropian, në bllokun më të madh tregtar në botë. Besoj fuqishëm se marrëdhëniet intensive dypalëshe ndërmjet Maqedonisë së Veriut dhe Gjermanisë do të vazhdojnë të marrin vrull.

“Maqedonia e Veriut është tashmë një lokacion i vlerësuar biznesi për më shumë se 200 kompani me kapital gjerman, të cilat janë ndër punëdhënësit më të mëdhenj këtu në vend, punësojnë rreth 20,000 njerëz dhe ofrojnë trajnime për shumë të rinj. Më shumë se 30 për qind e eksporteve të Maqedonisë së Veriut shkojnë në Gjermani”, është shpreh Shtajnmajer.

During his stay in North Macedonia, Steinnmeier will go on Wednesday to Çifte Hamam, where he will meet with the filming crew of the film "Honey Land". He will also visit the Wind Park in Bogdanci, and then the German company Drekselmaer in Kavadar. After the visit to North Macedonia, Steinnmeier travels to Albania./ DW
