The explosion in the Ibër-Lepenci canal, Vucic reacts again: We did not

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Sunday that Serbian authorities are investigating an explosion at an Ibër-Lepenci canal in northern Kosovo, again rejecting accusations by Kosovo authorities that Belgrade had a hand in the attack on vital infrastructure. KOsOvAr

The explosion on Friday evening caused significant damage to the Ibër-Lepenci water channel in the village of Varragë in the municipality of Zubin Potok, raising fears that many parts of the country would be left without water and electricity.

"Besides that we have nothing to do with this, we have been so fair and, as a serious state, we have not dealt with accusations and we have not said that that attack was ordered directly by Kurti," said Vucic, referring to the Prime Minister of Kosovo , Albin Kurti, who accused Serbia of "directing" this "terrorist and criminal" attack.

"We have certain doubts, but the investigation will show who ordered it. I think we have some knowledge about who the perpetrator could be," Vucic said.

He added that, until this is finished, the public will not be notified or "blame someone else" and said that he is ready to offer cooperation with everyone, including the official Pristina.

Kosovo security authorities announced late Saturday that eight suspects were arrested during a wide-ranging operation in northern Kosovo in connection with what they said was the worst attack on the country's critical infrastructure since the war.

Vucic accused the Kosovar authorities of arresting "people who had nothing to do with the attack and for this reason seven of them were released".

"That's not how serious investigations take place, everything was a show for the international opinion", he said./ rel
