Vučić accuses the US and regional countries of inciting protests in Serbia

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has stated that the recent protests against the government have had external support from regional secret services and several international organizations, including USAID and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

In an interview with DRM News, Vučić claims that the protests that have erupted in Serbia are not simply an expression of civic discontent, but have been used by external factors to destabilize the country.

"Of course there were many people who took to the streets and they were supported a lot by regional countries, regional secret services, which is not a big secret. There were also many organizations and institutions from abroad that supported them, " Vučić said, adding that he does not deny the existence of internal problems in the country.

According to him, any dissatisfaction has been exploited by external actors to incite large protests and create instability.

Vučić also mentioned that, according to him, USAID and NED have provided training and support to people who have taken to the streets and are not part of the formal opposition, with the aim of preparing for actions against the Serbian government.
