Vucic: I will resign as president if sonic weapon is used against protesters

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has said he will resign if it is proven that a sonic weapon, also known as a "sonic cannon," was used against protesters. He has publicly stated: "I am no longer the president of Serbia if it is proven that the deadly weapon 'sonic cannon' was used against protesters."

Vučić's statement came after allegations that Serbian security forces used a military sonic weapon during a mass protest held on March 15 in Belgrade. A video shared online shows the moment when protesters, calm and without any provocation, suddenly experience a loud sound and are forced to move away to avoid the sound wave.

The sonic cannon can produce sounds up to 160 decibels, equivalent to the sound level of a nearby rocket, and can cause hearing damage ranging from deafness. Protesters have accused the government of using the device to disperse the rally and have reported earaches and disorientation.

Serbia has officially requested the engagement of the FBI and the Russian FSB to investigate the possible use of a sonic weapon during the anti-government protest in Belgrade.
