SPAK, after having given direction to all the big files, finally has the time and luxury to deal with the real danger of the country, - MP Agron Shehaj.
The list of his "deeds", in addition to receiving that secret document in the Assembly hall, is alarming.
First, he became a millionaire without the state. According to what he publicly declares, he did not build his wealth with public funds, tenders or government favors. Such a precedent is extremely dangerous. It can give people the wrong idea that you can get rich without touching the state budget and without having the government as a friend, violating our golden triangle: business, crime, politics.
Second, Shehaj suffers from the chronic disease of keeping his word. He is in his third term as an MP and continues to donate his salary to a family in Kukës. He said that, as long as he was an MP, his salary would go to that family and, worst of all, he kept his word. This is a direct blow to our Besa standard!
Thirdly, he is creating dangerous expectations. He has spread the doubt that politics can be measured by personal examples and not just speeches. The MP in question has nurtured the idea that the word given can still have value, causing citizens to start holding others accountable. This is a development with unpredictable consequences.
And now the climax: he takes a secret document to the Assembly, to read it, and for this he is threatened with SPAK.
His immunity should be lifted as soon as possible, not for what he has done, but for the bad example he risks setting. If the idea spreads that a politician can get rich without the state, keep his word and not treat his mandate as a business, then we risk social unrest of such proportions that the “Flamingo Revolution” would seem like an afternoon walk by the Artificial Lake.
Therefore, SPAK must act without wasting time. The preliminary examination results in at least four lines of investigation: leaking secrets, violence against women, leaving the scene of the crime and failure to provide assistance.
The parliamentary majority, in accordance with the recommendations of the Venice Commission and the European Commission, should lift his immunity and not be satisfied with the slogan: we do not lift his immunity, but we do not prevent SPAK from investigating.
Regarding the incident, when drafting tenders, more attention should be paid to the quality of the materials of the floors and stairs, so that they are as less slippery as possible. Or, for maximum safety, a new tender for anti-slip carpets and walkways could be held.
PS MP Agron Shehaj's gesture of taking the document from the Assembly hall was wrong. But the synchronization with the command of MPs and ministers to post videos from inside the Assembly (!), accompanied by collective calls, with the traditional formula "proposal from above, approval from below", for SPAK to investigate Shehaj, is the most ridiculous part.
