The leader of the Mundësia Party, Agron Shehaj, has been suspended for 60 days from participating in plenary sessions and meetings of parliamentary committees, by decision of the Secretariat for Procedures, Voting and Ethics in the Assembly.

The disciplinary measure was taken following the request of the Socialist Party, which accuses the MP of the incident that occurred yesterday in the premises of the Parliament, in which he forcibly took the document during the review of the direct loan agreement between Albania and the United States of America, within the framework of external military financing.

The decision was made after a vote of 3 votes in favor and 3 against, with the parliamentary majority voting in favor of the disciplinary measure against Shehaj.

According to the Socialists, the agreement document contained classified information and could only be consulted in premises designated by the Assembly, after the deputies had signed the confidentiality declaration.

According to the request, a female Assembly advisor who attempted to retrieve the document fell down the stairs while chasing the MP and suffered injuries.

In addition to the 60-day suspension from parliamentary activity, the Socialists have also requested that the case be referred to the Special Prosecutor's Office, as according to them, Shehaj's actions may constitute criminal offenses related to the illegal receipt of classified information, misappropriation of documents, obstruction of public officials' duties, and violation of rules for the protection of state secrets.

On the other hand, Agron Shehaj has denied the accusations and stated that his actions were intended to denounce the lack of transparency regarding the agreement documentation.
