"Vangjush Dako's concrete is wreaking havoc." DP: Sand is being

National Council member Ilirjana Kuçana said in a statement to the media that former mayor Vangjush Dako, even though he is no longer in office, seems to continue to be the main decision-maker in the coastal city, as the concrete of his companies is filling and disfiguring the coastal space more and more every day and is removing sand from the beach.

Full statement:

The Municipality of Durrës has long turned a blind eye to what is happening to the coast of this city.

Every day, the coast is being destroyed by unregulated and, most scandalously, unlicensed construction, without construction, environmental, and development permits.

What is happening to the coast in Durrës, from the Dajlan Bridge to the Rock of Kavaja, cannot be resolved with public denunciations alone. Criminal charges must and will be filed immediately with the Prosecutor's Office, against private entities that are destroying the entire area without any criteria, but also against the Municipality which gives the green light, but does not provide any information about what is happening on the coast.

Of course, what happens in Durrës always has a cause and an inspiration.

Former mayor Vangjush Dako, even though he is no longer in office, seems to continue to be the main decision-maker in the coastal city, as the concrete from his companies is filling and increasingly disfiguring the coastal area and removing sand from the beach.

The filling of the coastal area with concrete by Vangjus Dako and the removal of sand in front of the 'Royal' Hotel, where, according to the citizens of Durrës, "concrete worker Dako" is a co-owner, is also harming other businesses in this area.

Some public questions for the "tourists" at the head of the Municipality:

Is there a construction permit from the Durrës municipality, or have the entities simply been given the money allocated, and then the coastal space has been 'donated' to them?!

Are there any studies on the sedimentology of this area, and how much irreparable damage does pouring this amount of concrete cause?

If not, then the environmental impact assessment decision is null and void! Without this environmental impact assessment decision, an environmental permit cannot be obtained and without an environmental permit, a construction permit cannot be granted.

The main problem is the environmental massacre that is taking place in Durrës, both with the concreting of the coast and with the crazy pontoons in the Qerret and Mali i Robi areas that have prevented the free transport of sand.

The concrete pavers of Durres are fighting nature, interrupting thousands of years of sedimentological processes for the sake of lining the pockets of a few thieves, and stealing millions from citizens' taxes for the sake of a few other thieves.

On May 11, the people of Durrës, whose sand is being stolen and exchanged for concrete, will have the answer in their hands for the environmental and tax criminals.
