A 48-year-old man was arrested by the Albanian police with the intention of extradition to Italy.

The State Police says it is about citizen Altin Stopani alias Erion Veliu from Fieri.

The 48-year-old sentenced in Italy to 9 years of imprisonment is accused of participation in a criminal organization, possession of weapons without a permit, drug trafficking and exploitation for prostitution.

A 48-year-old man sentenced in Italy to 9 years of imprisonment is located in Fier and is being handcuffed for the purpose of extradition.

As a result of the information provided by the police intelligence and exchanged with the partners in Italy, regarding the location of an Albanian citizen, declared internationally wanted, on behalf of Italy, the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, during the coded police operation "Operational 14 ", caught in Fier and imprisoned the citizen Altin Stopani alias Erion Veliu, 48 years old, born in Fier.

In 2012, the judicial authorities in Italy have sentenced this citizen to 9 years of imprisonment, for participation in a criminal organization, possession of weapons without a permit, drug trafficking and exploitation for prostitution, according to the provisions of the Italian Criminal Code. Cooperation continues between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome, to extradite this citizen to Italy.
