One year since the murder of Klodian Rasha / 10 years in prison, a resignation and disappointing justice for the family

On December 8, 2020, young Klodian Rasha was executed shortly after midnight near his apartment in the Lapraka area by police officer Nevaldo Hajdaraj, after the latter pursued him to punish him for violating the curfew set within restrictions of Covid-19.

Hajdaraj together with the staff that accompanied him on the work shift, called on Klodian to stop, but he got scared and ran away. Hajdaraj followed the young man and when he reached a nearby point he shot him with a gun.

Hours after the execution, the State Police reported that the young man was armed and the officer shot him in self-defense. Klodian's relatives rejected the hypothesis, arguing that the young man had gone out to buy cigarettes. Experts found a pistol at the scene, but it turned out that it did not belong to the 25-year-old.

Klodian Rasha arrived at the hospital without signs of life. The bullet he had received in the head caused his immediate death.

After verifying the material evidence at the scene, including the film footage, the CIA concluded that Hajdaraj "contradicts the standard procedures for the use of firearms and that it was not in the conditions set out in the law on the use of weapons of fire, exceeding the limits of necessary protection. "

Change of charge by the Prosecution

On December 16, the Prosecution announced the change of the indictment for the effective Nevaldo Hajdaraj, from "murder in excess of the conditions of protection" to "intentional murder".

Following the release of the footage from the moment of the murder, the prosecution announced that there was a clearer picture of the December 8 event. According to the Prosecution, the effective Nevaldo Hajdaraj, systematically shot at the young man, positioning himself, as evidenced by his colleague on the night of the event. The change of accusation comes "because the officer fired twice with a firearm at the young man."

On July 14, the court sentenced the officer to 15 years in prison, but due to the shortened trial, Hajdaraj was finally sentenced to 10 years in prison. The Tirana Prosecutor's Office had requested 20 years in prison for the effective.

Youth protest

Protesta të shumta u zhvilluan në kryeqytet dhe jo vetëm. Më 9 Dhjetor, protesta kulmoi me goditjen e dhunshme para dyerve të Kryeministrisë dhe Ministrisë së Brendshme. Të rinjtë qëlluan në drejtim të godinave qeveritare, shkatërruan tabelat e sinjalistikës rrugore, semaforë, tabelat e reklamimeve, dogjën koshat e mbeturinave dhe u ‘përleshën’ me efektivët e policisë që qëndronin para godinave qeveritare.

Dorëheqja e Sandër Lleshajt

Dy ditë pas vrasjes së Klodianit, ministri i Brendshëm asokohe Sandër Lleshaj dha dorëheqjen.

Me një postim në Facebook, Lleshaj u shpreh se pavarësisht karrierës së tij dhe posteve të marra ndër vite, kishte ardhur koha që ‘dilema’ e tij të merrte fund dhe të dorëzonte postin. “Edhe sot jam përballë dilemës së fillimit, por në një kuptim tjetër. Nëse në fillim e pranova këtë post për të mos treguar dobësi, sot, në rrethanat e krijuara, dobësi do të ishte ngulmimi për të qëndruar”,  shkruante Lleshaj.

Familja e Klodianit kërkon drejtësi

Ka kaluar një vit dhe babai i Klodian Rashës, nuk ka gjetur dejtësi për birin e vet. Qazim Rasha ka qenë sot në sheshin ‘Skënderbej’ ku janë zhvilluar homazhe në kujtim të të riut.

Në një deklaratë për mediet, Qazim Rasha u shpreh se shteti duhet të gjejë vend për drejtësi, teksa përcolli mirënjohjen e tij për të gjithë ata persona që i kanë qëndruar afër në momentin e vështirë.

"I pray to God that such tragedies do not exist in any band in the world. It wounded my soul, it broke my heart. I demanded that no one imagine these kinds of wounds, this tragedy. In 2021 such tragedies should not have any kind of nation. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has expressed interest in my family. I believe that there is no human being who imagines that a mother, a father, let alone a highlander like my work, can imagine selling and buying the blood of a child. I am asking the state to find the boy's murder, incrimination and the person who decided to take up arms, as I have not yet decided to look for him and find him myself ", said Klodian's father.
