The government brings to the parliament for ratification the agreement on social security signed between the two countries Albania and Italy on February 6, 2024. From this agreement, Albanians working in Italy and Italian citizens working in Albania will benefit from pensions.

The proposal for the ratification of the agreement between the two countries on pensions was made by the Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation and was approved by the Council of Ministers at today's meeting. It is expected that in the next plenary session in the Assembly, the draft law on the mutual recognition of social security between Italy and Albania will be approved.

THE PROPOSAL OF THE DRAFT LAW "FOR THE RATIFICATION OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA AND THE REPUBLIC OF ITALY IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL INSURANCE"

In support of articles 81, point 1, and 100, of the Constitution, and article 17, of law no. 43/2016, "On international agreements in the Republic of Albania", with the proposal of the Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, the Council of Ministers

DECIDE:

The proposal of the draft law "On the ratification of the agreement, between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Italy in the field of social security", for review and approval in the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, for review and approval in the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, according to the text and the report , which are attached to this decision.

This decision comes into force immediately, the government's decision states.

The agreement on the mutual recognition of Social Security between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Italy signed on February 6, 2024 enables:

-Providing social security benefits;

-Equal treatment of employed persons and for the employees themselves;

The agreement will apply to legislation related to:

- Insurance for old age, disability, family pension (survivors);

-Insurance for benefit for diseases and pregnancy;

- Unemployment insurance.

About 500,000 Albanians who have contributed to Italy for more than 30 years are expected to benefit from the agreement.
