The most special New Year's traditions you probably haven't heard of!

The celebration of New Year is filled with various traditions and superstitions around the world, each with the intention of bringing luck and prosperity in the coming year.

 In many Western countries, it is believed that a kiss at midnight brings luck in love for the new year.

1 Red underwear

In Italy and some other countries, wearing red underwear on New Year's Eve is considered to bring luck and passion.                    

 Walking with suitcases

Meanwhile, in some Latin American countries, people walk down the street with an empty suitcase to attract travel and adventure in the coming year.

3 Pomegranates on the doorstep

In Greece, it is a tradition to break a pomegranate on the doorstep after midnight; the more seeds scattered, the more luck and prosperity is expected.

4 Grapes

In Spain and some Latin American countries, people eat 12 grapes at midnight, one for each stroke of the clock, to ensure luck in each month of the coming year.

5 Opening doors and windows

In Ireland, all doors and windows are opened to let out the old year and welcome the new one, symbolizing a new beginning.

6 The first person to enter the house

In Scotland, the tradition known as "first-footing" involves the first person to enter the house after midnight bringing gifts such as coal, bread or whiskey, to provide warmth, food and joy.

7 Cabbage and peas

In the southern United States, it is customary to eat cabbage and peas on New Year's Day, with cabbage symbolizing money and peas good luck.

8 Noise

In many cultures, making noise with firecrackers, bells, or other instruments is believed to ward off evil spirits. Some people keep money in their wallets just before midnight to ensure financial stability, while others cleanse their homes to remove negative energies and prepare the place for good luck.

The traditions reflect the universal desire for a new beginning and the hope for a year filled with luck, love, and prosperity.
