The burnt helicopter is found, the president and the foreign minister of Iran lose their lives

The burnt helicopter is found, the president and the foreign minister of Iran

A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, the country's foreign minister and other officials crashed in Iran's mountainous northwestern borders on Sunday.

A massive rescue operation in a fog-shrouded forest was launched to find the missing.

On Monday, Raisi and others on board remained missing more than 12 hours after the crash, footage of which was seen by a Turkish drone.

Rescue teams went to the scene.

The incident comes after Iran under Rais and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei launched an unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel last month and has enriched uranium closer than ever to weapons-grade levels.

Iran has also faced years of mass protests against its Shiite theocracy over an ailing economy and women's rights — making the moment all the more sensitive for Tehran and the country's future as the Israel-Hamas war ignites the East Medium wider.
