Criticized government policies for asylum seekers, BBC suspends sports presenter

British media giant the BBC has suspended BBC Sport sports presenter Gary Lineker after criticizing the government's language about its asylum policy.

According to the BBC, Lineker's arguments have sparked an unprecedented row about impartiality. With his suspension, the disbandment of all the staff began and they went on a boycott.

In a statement released on Saturday afternoon, a BBC spokesman said the corporation would only be able to carry limited sports programs this weekend and that it was working hard to resolve the situation.

Several programs have already been canceled and it is increasingly unclear how planned production will be able to continue given the extent of unrest among BBC Sport presenters and staff.

A former BBC executive has said the broadcaster undermined its credibility by taking Gary Lineker off the air.

Greg Dyke, who acted as director-general between 2000 and 2004, said “there is a long-established precedent at the BBC that if you're an entertainment presenter or a sports presenter then you're not bound by the same rules. The real problem today is that the BBC has undermined its own credibility by doing this."
