The wife of the mayor of Patos declared wanted for corruption

Fation Duro was announced as the new mayor of Patos in the May 14 elections. With 8,211 votes, Duro managed to get the mayor's mandate, while a few days ago he took the oath and officially took office as mayor.

Referring to the civil registry, Duro is married to citizen Kozeta Statha, a construction engineer by profession. However, for a year and a half, Statha has been wanted under the charge of "abuse of office", as he is accused of having committed corruption when he was running the Saranda Cadastre.

Kozeta Statha studied at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Construction Branch. She served as an assistant to the deputy speaker of the Albanian Parliament in 2013-2015. And then she would go to OSHEE as a specialist and to Albpetrol, until 2018.

Statha was elected as a member of the Municipal Council of Saranda in 2015 from the PBDNJ list and in January 2018, she was appointed the new manager of the Port of Saranda. In July 2020, Kozeta Spatha was appointed head of the Cadastre of Saranda.

On March 24, 2022, the Saranda Police completed the operation "Silence 2" during which we captured 3 former officials of the ASHK, but saved Kozate Statha, who allegedly fled towards Bologna.

Since that day, Statha turns out to be wanted.

According to the police, Statha together with the three former officials have misused their duties by illegally equipping some citizens with ownership certificates for wealth, land and property in the coastal areas of the city of Saranda and Ksamil.

Statha has been assigned the security measure of "prison arrest" by the Court of Saranda.
