SPAK Document/File Highlights Scandal, Veliaj Turns Out to Have Been Previously

The SPAK file has highlighted a scandal related to the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, following his arrest yesterday by SPAK on charges of creating a corrupt scheme between companies and NGOs linked to his wife, Ajola Xoxa, and a group of businessmen close to him, with a transaction value of more than 1 million euros.

On the first page of the 366-page SPAK file, Veliaj is described as a citizen with the status of “convicted.” It is not clear for which case Veliaj is found to be such and for how long he has been convicted.

Meanwhile, inside the prison cell, Veliaj continues to presume innocence, rejecting SPAK's accusations.
