3.8 million euros for the "Hysa Brothers" from Tan Agolli of the ADF, for filling the shore with sand in Durrës

3.8 million euros for the "Hysa Brothers" from Tan Agolli of the ADF,

A project that aims to carry out works at sea and fill with sand a strip of over 3 thousand meters on the Durrës beach aims to increase tourist attendance in this area, which is adjacent to the Durrës Yacht Marina.

The Albanian Development Fund announced that the winner of the contract "Intervention for urban regeneration, marine protection in the coastal area: Reprofiling and sand filling of the Coastal Line from Dajlan Bridge to the Cavalry Building, Durrës" with a limit fund of 583 million lek or 5.8 million euros was won by the company " Vëllezërit Hysa" with owners Kujtim, Flutura and Besnik Hysa, with a bid of 63 percent of the limit fund. The company aims to carry out the anticipated intervention with 3.65 million euros.

Referring to the documents made public, the ADF argues that the Durrës coast south of the port, from the end of the Port to the end of the new Promenade at the Cavalry Building, has a sandy shore that is not of a significant size to serve the growth and development of tourism.

"In the area of the Port of Durres, an investment known as Durres Yacht Marina is being developed, which also aims to create a new coastal area. Near this investment, the sandy area of the seashore is very reduced and has a width of 15 to 20 m. Several tourist structures in this area have invested by building artificial areas surrounded by concrete constructions and maintaining them from time to time.

"On the other part of the coast from the pier (Hawai Beach Bar) to the end of the promenade near the small Iliria runway, we have a width of the seashore from 15-20 m at the beginning to 40-50 m near the Iliria runway," the document states.

The same argues that this beach area near the promenade cannot fully play the role of supporting tourism, as is natural for a coastal city like Durrës, being unable, with some minor exceptions, to offer quality services to tourists and locals who want to use it, there is a need for a reprofiling and filling of the coastline with sand.

"In order to improve the aforementioned situation, by giving this important area of the city a new, modern and attractive appearance from a tourist point of view, it is envisaged that this coastline will be expanded with an average width of about 100 m starting from the border of the new promenade.

This expansion will also reconfigure the coastline by making it uniform. The object of this report is to describe the complete rehabilitation of a strip extending approximately 3168 m along the area that will be achieved through offshore works to reconstruct the beach morphology, which will be carried out through artificial beach replenishment and the creation of a structure to separate the development area of the Durrës Yacht Marina project and the public beach area from the Dajlan Bridge to the Cavalry Building”, the document states./ MONITOR
