"5D", Appeli leaves Redi Molla and Marigle Qaton in jail

The Special Court of Appeal has imprisoned 2 former directors of Tirana municipality, Redi Molla and Mariglen Qato, accused of corruption, embezzlement and money laundering.

The file in question was returned to appeal after a decision of the high court appointing another panel of judges.

Judge Nertina Kosova after looking at the acts and also listening to the prosecutor Klodian Braho and the lawyers decided to leave the measures in force.

" The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a monocratic panel composed of judge Nertina Kosova, today on 07.11.2024, announced the decision on criminal case no. 58, registration date 11.11.2024, returned for reconsideration with another panel of judges from the Supreme Court, after the annulment of decision no. 18, dated 03.05.2024 of the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, for the persons under investigation Redi Molla and Mariglen Qato, in the case of security measures. personally, and decided:

Approval of decisions no. 28, dated 28.03.2024 and no. 35, dated 30.03.2024 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, for the persons under investigation Mariglen Qato and Redi Molla.

Former directors Redi Molla and Mariglen Qato are being tried for corruption and concealment of wealth, together with Taulant Tushen, arrested earlier by SPAK.

Tushe, Molla and Qato were arrested in March of this year by order of the Posaccme Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, as part of the investigation into the "5D" file.

According to Spak, Qato and Molla are the de facto owners of the company "5D", which according to the investigations, has been the winner in several tenders near the municipality.

It is about 11 tendering procedures in the time frame of 6 years, from 2016 to 2022. The company is also known by two different names "Igor Electric" and "Vas construcion".
