Greek authorities have raised the alarm and been put on high alert following the escape from the infamous Koridhalos prison, which occurred early in the morning of June 2 and has caused widespread mobilization of the Hellenic Police throughout Attica.

The 48-year-old prisoner, convicted of drugs, managed to escape in circumstances that are already under the microscope of investigations, taking advantage of a critical moment in the daily functioning of the prison.

The incident, according to initial information, occurred during the waste collection process, when the entrance to the prison's Central Materials Depot was opened.

At that moment, the prisoner allegedly found the opportunity to move to the back of the area and run away, before there was an immediate reaction from security personnel.
