Greece, 48-year-old Albanian escapes spectacularly from Koridhalos prison

An Albanian prisoner has made a spectacular escape from Koridhalos prison in Greece today (June 2).

Greek authorities said they were notified after a prisoner escaped and according to initial information, he is a 48-year-old Albanian.

It was previously reported that the Albanian had been convicted of drug crimes.

According to the same information from "Protothema", the escape occurred during mealtime in the canteen. Initial assessments indicate that two consecutive security zones may have been opened simultaneously, a fact that the prisoner is suspected of having exploited to escape.

It is believed that he has long studied prison security procedures, movements, and automatic door opening and closing.

Authorities have launched investigations to find and arrest him, while simultaneously examining the circumstances under which the escape was possible, as well as any responsibility in the functioning of security measures in the prison.

This is because there are suspicions that he may have been helped from inside the prison by guards, making it easier for him to escape.
