The official residence of the American ambassador in Albania will now be called "Ryerson House", in honor of Ambassador William Ryerson.

The latter is the first US ambassador to serve in Albania after the fall of the communist regime. The American Embassy in our country was opened on October 1, 1991.

The change of the name of the residence was announced by the current US Ambassador to Albania Yuri Kim, during his speech at the event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Kim stated: His true and deep love for the people of this country and his determination to build US-Albania relations, has been a model for every American diplomat since 1991.
