"Kilometer" queues for subscribers in front of QSUT, why Kelliç's idea for free public transport would be effective

 

Subscribers of students and citizens have been constantly problematic for the capital.

As shown in the photo below, students and citizens hold subscriptions 'hostage' by forcing them to wait for hours, in long queues in front of QSUT, and often it turns out that they don't get it despite the wait.

The candidate of the "Together We Win" coalition in Tirana, Belind Këlliçi, unveiled a few days ago his plan for the capital, where, among other things, he promised free transportation for all citizens of Tirana.

"Free public transport is possible. This has to do with the people, with the 200,000 citizens of Tirana who are most in need. Free public transport costs 16.5 million euros, this is a burden for the Municipality, it is only 6.8 percent of the budget" , said Këlliçi.

Kelliçi added that with this intervention, the Municipality will save for a normal couple who takes urban transport, at least 85 thousand old lek per month. Also, it would save citizens from long queues and would not force students to leave classes for a subscription.

Këlliç's plan, among other things, would also have effects on traffic, which in Tirana is extremely heavy and causes high air pollution.

Veliaj "embarrassed"

The plan offered by Kelliçi to the citizens of Tirana seems to have caught Erion Veliaj "red handed", who never hides his great love for trees, but not for chaotic public transport.

The socialist mayor of Tirana, in a link to Top News, called Kelliç's plan "imagination", claiming that such a thing would cost the Municipality of Tirana a lot of work and that it is a plan that has not been scientifically proven to it works.

Transporti publik falas është një projekt që e kemi pasur prej vitesh në diskutim, me specialistët gjermanë dhe me ish-drejtuesin e Transportit Publik në Londër, pra jemi konsultuar me të më mirët. Por, sot kemi një situatë ku kosto që do të duhej është midis 94 dhe 114 milionë euro. I bie që Bashkia e Tiranës, në tre vitet ardhshme, të mos bëjë asnjë punë: asnjë kopsht, asnjë çerdhe, asnjë rrugë, asnjë park, asnjë pemë, asnjë varrezë, asnjë investim publik, për diçka që në fakt është provuar shkencërisht që nuk funksionon”, tha Veliaj.

Po ashtu, Erioni dhe makineria e tij propagandistike pezantuan Linjën e SHpejtë të Autobusëve në Tiranë ose “Bus Rapid Transit”, i cili do të prekë linjat kryesore të qytetit, si Kinostudio-Kombinat, Unazën dhe linjën e Tiranës së Re.
