James Wertz kept his wife, Indah Lilis Sartika Saragih, prisoner for 10 years in their apartment in Tirana. A day ago, the American citizen killed his wife and their two dogs, and then ended his life.

A letter was found in the apartment where Wertz addressed his father with an apology for what had happened. "Sorry, I couldn't make it," it read.

The Indonesian media 'Tempo' has written an article about the event where it writes that Saragih was known among the Indonesian diaspora as quite unsociable.

"You are allowed to visit her house only when her husband is not present ," a source living in Tirana told Tempo.

According to the source, who has been living in Tirana for 10 years, Saragih has had minimal presence on social networks.

Tirana is home to about 50 Indonesian diasporas. "Some work as masseurs in spas. Others are waiters in restaurants" , said the source.
