Rama's Resolution: 1,604 words and no meaning

Alfred Lela

In 1604 words of the text of the resolution of the socialist parliamentary group, read Edi Ramës, the word 'election' is not found even once.

Rightly, the opposition of the country that Sali Berisha is destroying has hung public communication on this peg.

Another battlehorse of the opposition has been and remains the depopulation, the mass flight from Albania of about 1 million Albanians, referring here to the statistics that come from foreign organizations unrelated to the opposition or its political blind.

Not even this word, in any of its variants - emigration, flight, exodus, etc. - is found in the draft resolution.

Among the words found there, such as 'judicial reform', impunity', 'European integration', 'fight against corruption', etc. resound strongly. In any case, despite the nobility they carry at first glance or in principle, these are terms emptied of meaning and have lost their meaning precisely from overuse and disrespect. Rama and his government are deficient in everything: prolonging the integration and parodying it - the "opening" of negotiations several times and the accompanying concerts - especially the fight against corruption, when used by a prime minister and government - with an unprecedented record seen in the history of Albania, are a great irony.

Any resolution is a fraud without recognizing these two pillars of opposition discourse and the fallen pillars of the functioning of the state and the health of the nation. The fact that "Albania 2030" has been chosen as its leitmotif, a slogan that Rama has been using for some time to convey to the public's imagination the idea that he will govern until that year, is also a mockery.

The draft resolution invites the opposition without recognizing and understanding it, even ignoring it. Imagining how government candidates win in municipalities like Rrogozhina and Kukësi is dizzying, in complete contradiction to logic. In the first case, after he won with the prison ballot box and with a small margin, and in the second, after the scandal in the office of the mayor of Gjici.

In the manuals of world politics, there are no cases where someone is strengthened by a scandal or violation instead of weakened.

Files 184 and 339, which were filed earlier in time and only a year ago, the demonstrative involvement of the Shkodra gangs in fabricating a result that gave the SP the victory in the Northern capital for the first time, do not stand out in the draft resolution's worldview.

There is not even a shadow of injustice towards the opposition leader. The political trial of Sali Berisha, in addition to the lack of evidence and facts, is sprinkled with spectacular filth, where the "mainly lawyer" appointed by the court stands out, who, not by chance but "mainly" was an Enverist with a star, or Irena Gjoka, who it appeared both in the top list of those engaged in the SP "Activist" application, as well as in the non grata files of the Greek authorities, and even until the conflict of interest that ensured his dismissal by President Berisha in the mid-1990s.

All these criticisms make Rama's resolution a propaganda and electoral document, not an attempt to reduce tension and social and political peace, much less a document that paves the way for European integration or stands up against national disintegration, which is mass depopulation.

The fact that the American Embassy took the draft resolution seriously does not automatically make it a serious document. This may indicate a long-standing American desire for a grand coalition, but it does not correspond to reality, much less the hope for normality and resolution. As a premature slogan of the Democratic Party says, "Without free elections, there is no solution." All those who have in their hands the gunpowder of killing elections cannot do multiple catharsis without starting with the reinstallation of a free and fair electoral process.

Otherwise, the tentative resolution is no more than a 1,604-word jumble, a Babel that leads us neither to agreement nor to God.
