Pfizer will not stop supplying medicine but will give all proceeds from Russia

Pfizer says it will donate all profits from its Russian branch to humanitarian aid efforts in Ukraine. While other large companies in the private sector have reduced or completely cut off trade with Russia, many drugmakers said last week they would not stop operations.

In a statement Monday, Pfizer reiterated that stance, saying stopping the flow of life-saving medicines in Russia "would be in direct conflict with our basic principle of putting patients first."

However, the statement continued, "maintaining the supply of medicines in Russia does not mean that we will continue to do business as usual in Russia."

In addition to donating its Russian profits to Ukrainian aid efforts, Pfizer said it would stop recruiting new patients for clinical trials in Russia and would not launch any new trials there. The company said it does not own or operate any Russian production sites, but added that it would discontinue all planned investments with domestic suppliers aiming to build production capacity.

"These decisions are in line with our first patient values and ensure that every dollar of profit derived from Russia will strengthen Ukraine and its people as they continue to boldly defend their nation and their freedom from this unprovoked and unjustified attack." , the statement said.
