The Kremlin confirms Lavrov's visit to Serbia on June 6-7 in Belgrade

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed on Friday that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Belgrade on June 6-7.

A Foreign Ministry post on Twitter quoted Zakharova as saying that Lavrov was scheduled to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during the visit.

The Russian Foreign Minister will meet with his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selakovic, Parliament Speaker and leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Ivica Dacic and the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Patriarch Porfirije, she added.

The Nova.rs portal reported earlier this week that Lavrov will visit Belgrade next week ahead of a visit by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is reportedly considering canceling his visit to the Serbian capital. Deutsche Welle said on Friday that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's cabinet confirmed that he would visit Serbia on June 10th in the first phase of his Balkan tour.
