Two people were killed after a training plane crashed in northwestern Turkey on Thursday, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported .

The single-engine plane crashed near a natural gas power plant in Bursa province, Anadolu quoted Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat as saying.

No damage was immediately reported at the gas plant as rescue teams were dispatched to the scene in the Ovaakça neighborhood.

The plane had taken off from Sakarya province, about 150 kilometers to the east, Canbolat said.

The cause of the accident and the identity of the victims are not yet known.

Bursa Mayor Alinur Aktaş said crews found two dead crew members at the scene shortly after the crash was reported at 3:40 pm (1240 GMT). He added that the plane is believed to have left for an airport in Bursa.
