The new Minister of Finance with an iron hand, massive dismissals as soon as he

A day after taking office as Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj has caused earthquakes in the ministry. Capital has learned that Mr. Malaj has dismissed the historical director of Fiscal Policies, Nikolla Lera.

One of the most well-known tax experts and with many years of experience at the head of the Fiscal Policy department, Mr. Lera has been suddenly notified of his resignation. But Nikola Lera was not the only one. The other important name that has left the position of the Ministry of Finance is the general secretary Risena Xhaja.

Mrs. Xhaja has also been unexpectedly notified of her dismissal from the position of general secretary, which she has held since March 2023.

Another employee who could not escape the storm of the new minister is one of the sanitary workers of the Ministry of Finance, who has been serving on the minister's floor for many years. The health worker who has accompanied many ministers of finance could not cope with the new minister, Petrit Malaj. The latter has decided to move it from his floor to replace it with a more reliable cleaner.

More departures are expected
A source told Kapital that the wave of departures may also affect other important figures in the Ministry of Finance. One of the most talked about names to be argued is that of the Deputy Minister of Finance, Adela Xhemali.

Ms. Xhemali has held this post since February 2020, when Anila Denaj was the Minister of Finance. But apparently her experience in the Ministry of Finance may be coming to an end.

Initially, it was rumored that another name that could be removed was that of the historical director of the State Treasury, Mimoza Dhembi. Mrs. Dhembi is one of the most popular state employees with a long career in the Ministry of Finance, since the 90s. But until now there is no official act for her departure and Mrs. Dhembi continues to stay in office. However, its position is still unclear. Mrs. Dhembi is a key figure in the multi-year clash between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure over investment projects, which have eaten the heads of several Finance Ministers.

Meanwhile, another name that is rumored to be in the position is that of the legal director in the Ministry of Finance, Sajmir Muçmata. It is not known if Mr. Malaj will also remove Mr. Muchmataj, but it is certain that it will not be easy because of some other balances outside the ministry.

This is the first time in history that the Ministry of Finance is facing such an earthquake in staff changes. Many employees told Kapitali off the record that the moves came as a surprise to everyone./ Kapitali.al
