Rama threatens the hotel business in Saranda: We will bring inspectors to the

Prime Minister Edi Rama stopped by Saranda this Monday on the eve of the opening of the hotel business season.

Rama said that to exclude fiscal evasion, they have considered an option for businesses for the peak season, giving them the opportunity to avoid tax audits, by making a prepayment of 65% and then during the winter months, 30%.

" You play a lot of tricks with the number of occupied beds, you have to admit it, the point is that this trick prevents us from doing more for cities because it does not give the municipality the opportunity to collect the revenues it is entitled to from the occupancy of beds."

In Saranda and Ksamil, no one can claim that there are empty beds in July-August, but if you look at your statements, it seems like you are living in a crisis. We reduced VAT precisely for this, and yet you still pretend not to understand.

However, in order to enter a process of normalization and to also highlight the arrival of inspectors at the door, then we, in consultation with international expertise, have decided to give hotel structures an option to accept a pre-declaration with an agreement that for the peak period, if they do not want an inspection, they can pre-declare 65%, which I believe is much lower than the truth, but we want to start this way.

"Whoever pays 65% from May to September has no control, but there is also 30% in the winter months that balances the possibility of continuing to maintain the minimum staff. Those who will accept this agreement will have no control over taxes ," said Rama.
