Vote buying, Çupi: Government gives 530 interest-free loans before

Democratic MP Dhurata Çupi accuses the government of trying to buy votes through hundreds of interest-free home loans that she granted a few months before the elections.

"Silence doesn't solve, it makes it worse!"

The government's recent decision to provide interest-free loans to hundreds of civil servants constitutes a flagrant violation of the rules for equal competition in elections. The interest on 530 home loans will not be paid from either Edi Rama's or Blendi Gonxha's pocket. They are public money, which is being used before the elections.

Institutions that should have been more active during this election period to oppose the government's electoral acts are silent.

The law and electoral equality are being torn apart before the eyes of Albanians and our partners, damaging Albania's position in negotiations for membership in the European Union.

"Such anti-democratic practices, which have become commonplace for this government, have undermined citizens' trust in elections, so it is time for institutions not to become parties to violations of the law, but to react and show that the law applies equally to everyone!" , writes Çupi.
