Tirana Court registers Berisha as leader of the DP, Topalli: Strong challenge for every democrat
The Tirana Court has registered Sali Berisha as the chairman of the Democratic Party in the register of Political Parties, after 3 years of court hearings.
Former Speaker of the Parliament, Jozefina Topalli, reacted to this act, calling it a closed story that challenged many democrats.
" A story that posed a strong challenge to every democrat and shamed all those who thought they would eliminate the opposition and replace it with their puppets is over!", Topalli writes, alongside a photo of herself from a few years ago, where she appears alongside Berisha and Azem Hajdari.
The conflict over the leadership of the Democratic Party of Albania (DP) began after Berisha was expelled from the parliamentary group by former leader Lulzim Basha. This action caused deep divisions within the party and escalated political and legal clashes.
On June 11 of this year, the panel consisting of three judges with rapporteur Alma Ahmeti and two members Iliba Bezati and Elona Toro recognized the decision of Agron Zhukri, who had decided that the seal should be given to Sali Berisha. The latter was released from the "house arrest" measure on November 27 by decision of judge Flojera Davidhi.
