The democratic mayor of Mirdita explains why he participated in Rama's

The mayor of Mirdita, Albert Mëlyshi, was one of the mayors of the Democratic Party, who participated in the meeting of Prime Minister Rama with the mayors of the country.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Mëlyshi said that he participated in the meeting with the prime minister, since as the head of the city he must convey the voice of the citizens at the central level.

The mayor added that he was at the October 7 protest and that he supports the opposition's cause for free and fair elections.

"It depends on the point of view of each mayor or even on the opinion of the public that analyzes this. But from my point of view as Albert Mëlyshi, I think that the mayor has the duty to convey the voice of his citizens in meetings with the government.

The mayor has a personal and institutional responsibility to participate in meetings, dialogue, or certain analyzes that the local government does with the central government. This is because he is trusted to convey the problems and concerns of the citizens.

I am institutionally obliged to attend these meetings. Regardless of who will be in the government or what political force I am, I think it is more important the voice of the citizens to raise with the government to demand exactly those who need from the government, than my personal or political point of view, if I want or not to go to the meeting", said Mëlyshi.

He added that: "Of course I was in protest, even at this point I think that citizens have the right to protest for those who think it is not going well. "
