CEC orders Basha to remove Democratic Party symbols from his office

The Central Election Commission reviewed in today's meeting the complaint of the Democratic Party, led by Sali Berisha, for the removal of unofficial symbols, emblems and logos of the DP from a private environment.

More specifically, it concerns the use of DP symbols by Lulzim Basha in his office, while he now has a new party, "Euro-Atlantic Democrats", with which he will compete in the May 11 elections.

The State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, has ordered the former chief democrat to remove the symbols of the Democratic Party from the private premises he is using. The head of the CEC stated that the municipal and state police will be charged with implementing the decision, while adding that a deadline will be set regarding the implementation of this decision.

"I agree with the request made by the DP electoral subject to remove these symbols from private premises and the municipal and state police will be charged with implementing this decision. We will also set a deadline regarding the implementation of this decision," said Celibashi.
