"Media trickery for favors", how Rama's rhetoric towards TCH and lies about free media changed
"There is no possibility or chance that anyone from Top Channel, be it owners or journalists, will say that in one second they felt that the government put pressure on them or that they saw the controversy in a controversy translated into action".
This was the statement of Prime Minister Edi Rama yesterday when he commented on the gun attack on Top Channel, where the security guard, Pal Kola, was killed. Rama denied that he exerted pressure not only on TCH, but also on other media, arguing that today the media and journalists are freer than ever.
"This is not another event, it is one of those events that happen like a bolt from the sky and does not constitute continuity, this is something directly related to Top Channel, the government has been one of the targets of Top Channel and I am here today and what I can say is that there is no possibility or chance that anyone from Top Channel, be it owners or journalists, will say that in one second they felt that the government put pressure on them or that they saw the controversy in a translated controversy in action. That the seriousness of this issue is so great is and I assure you that I understand and feel this blow very deeply and we will do our best to find the perpetrators, I tell the individuals who are part of this institution to continue their mission proudly", declared Rama .
Rama even stated that his government has never interfered in any millimeter of media freedom. "I and the government that I lead have never interfered in any millimeter of media freedom ," continued the Prime Minister.
But what Rama declares today does not match the rhetoric used against Top Channel, when the latter began to "hit" the government, starting from the homeless of the earthquake of November 26, to the mass emigration of young people, to the cyber attack Iranian that paralyzed Albania's digital system.
Antiquarian Chronicles of Top
The national television suddenly started to "sew" the government with scandals and affairs by broadcasting a series of chronicles that attacked the Rama government.
Rama bie ndesh me raportin e DASH
"However, independent media are few and far between, as most media are owned by powerful businessmen with vested interests who use their media to advance their own interests, including profiteering and promoting interests they have with parties. political" , says the report.
DASH also underlined that there have been reliable reports according to which senior media representatives used their bodies to blackmail businesses, threatening them with negative coverage.
"Political pressure, corruption and lack of funds limited the independent written media and journalists are said to have practiced self-censorship ," the report states.
However, the prime minister turns "a blind eye and a deaf ear" when it comes to criticism of his government.
