Anti-drug operation in Belgium, two Albanians jump into the Vesdre River to

Two people of Albanian nationality jumped from a building at 16B rue du Prince in Verviers to escape the intervention of the Belgian federal police, who were aiming to dismantle a cannabis plantation.

According to the Liège public prosecutor's office, the federal judicial police discovered the remains of a plantation in a hangar on Rue de Droixhe in Liège, as well as a marijuana plantation in a warehouse on Rue du Prince in Verviers, where around 1,000 plants were grown. At this location, two Albanians jumped into the Vesdre River from a window to avoid arrest during a heavy police intervention. Also, another individual of Albanian nationality was found cleaning up the remains of this plantation on Rue de Droixhe.

In total, five people were arrested during the operation coordinated by Belgian authorities. The event underlines the intensity of campaigns against illegal activities and the cooperation between law enforcement institutions in Belgium to dismantle organized crime networks.
