The Ambassador of France in Kosovo, Olivier Guerot, has stated that he expects the Government of Kosovo to start talks on the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.

He added that "meetings related to this matter are expected these days". Ambassador Guerot emphasized that he expects from the leader of Serbia that he will respect the obligations he has received and that otherwise there will be consequences for both sides.

"It is too early to say what the consequences will be and now we have to focus on the benefits", said Guerot in the debate on the implementation of the Agreement between Kosovo and Serbia on the normalization of relations, which is being held on Friday, at the Media Center in Çaglavicë. near Pristina.

On February 27, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, accepted the Agreement for the normalization of relations based on the European proposal, while on March 18 in Ohrid, they agreed on the Annex for its implementation.

The French ambassador emphasized that the main negotiators within the dialogue, Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petkovic, will meet on April 4 in Brussels and assessed that this is the first step towards the implementation of the Agreement.

In the same debate, the German ambassador in Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, expressed optimism about the implementation of this Agreement and emphasized that the most important thing at this moment is that the agreement has been reached.

"Now we also have the political will of the actors", said Rode.

He expressed the opinion that the Agreement for the normalization of relations is a "long-term obligation" and added that Kosovo should respect the part that deals with the self-management of the Serbian community in Kosovo, while Serbia should not block Kosovo's membership in international organizations.

The German ambassador believes that this Agreement will make life easier for ordinary citizens, especially members of the Serbian community living in the north of Kosovo.

The European Union has announced earlier that this Agreement, although not signed, is legally binding and that it will become an integral part of the integration process of Serbia and Kosovo in the European Union./REL
