ERE approved the new tariffs/ How many families will be affected in the winter

ERE approved two days ago the band and the new electricity price. Each household subscriber who consumes over 800 kWh will pay the energy at a price of ALL 42.95/kWh.

Households that spend up to 800 kilowatts of electricity per month will pay the price of 9.5 Lek/kWh, unchanged. But how many families are affected by the new electricity price?

Open Data has collected and processed data from ERE, calculating how many families are affected by the new electricity price.

In the month of December, 71,278 Albanian families consume more than 800 kilowatt hours (electricity) in the winter month. One in ten families exceeds the threshold of 800 kv and is consequently affected by the increase in the price and tariff for electricity consumption.

In different months, their consumption varies and the winter months have more consumption. Families that spend more are not necessarily richer and have the potential for expensive consumption. They are mainly families with several members, with care for the well-being of children or families with two and three generations in the structure.

For the month of October, it is predicted that 49,334 subscribers will be affected by the price of 42.95 ALL, while for the months of November and December, the number of family consumers in the plus 800 kWh band will increase to 71,278 subscribers.

In total, for the period October-December 2022, it is expected that subscribers of this period will consume 210 million kilowatts of electricity.

The Final Price according to FSHU for the band above 800 should not only increase but also cover eight additional fees such as transmission fees (0.85 ALL/kWh), b. distribution (6.42 ALL/kWh), c. administrative costs (1.21 ALL/kWh), d. amortization (0.01 ALL/kWh), e. imbalances (0.07 ALL/kWh), i. the allowed cost of working capital ((0.03 ALL/kWh) and fuel (0.06 ALL/kWh).

As a result of the proposal of this new price, it is expected that families consuming over 800 kWh, for the period October-December 2022, will pay 96% more than in the same period of 2021.
