Falsification of diplomas at the private university, MAS admits the violations:

The Ministry of Education has reacted after the scandal with the falsification of diplomas at a private university. 9 people were arrested by the Italian police after discovering a wide network of fake diplomas that included different regions of Italy and Albania.

In a reaction, the Ministry of Education accepts the violations committed by "WISDOM" University College, stating that it is following the legal procedures for closing the academic activity of the college.

REACTION:

The Ministry of Education and Sports, based on the by-laws in force, of Law No. 80/2015 "On Higher Education and Scientific Research in Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Albania" has started from 2022 onwards, the periodic process of verification of compliance control of the activity of all institutions of higher education.

Following this process, for the period 2023-2024, MAS, based on the legal provisions in force, through the working group set up for this purpose, with representatives of the responsible structures of the ministry, the Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education and the Center of Educational Services, has started the verification of compliance with the legal and by-laws in force of WISDOM University College.

After the procedures followed within this process, and the verifications carried out throughout the control period in this institution, at the end of it, the working group, in July of this year, completed the final control report, finding legal violations, during exercising the academic, administrative and financial activity of the WISDOM University College for the period of the exercise of control, referring to the provisions of law no. 80/2015, "On higher education and scientific research in higher education institutions in the Republic of Albania" and by-laws in its implementation.

Based on the recommendations of the control group, the legal procedure is being followed in connection with the closure of the academic activity of the non-public higher education institution WISDOM University College.

We underline that in the meantime, the Ministry of Education and Sports, for the new academic year 2024-2025, has not certified admission quotas for WISDOM University College.

So the Ministry of Education and Sports has followed not only with attention, but also with concrete steps of legal measures the anomalies brought out by the inspections, ensuring the protection of students based on the legal provisions in force.

MAS remains committed to guaranteeing quality and transparency in all aspects of the education system, ensuring that all degrees and certificates issued by higher education institutions in the country are in line with the best standards.
