CNN journalist precedes Rama's propaganda: I will not allow masturbation

Journalist Richard Quest has been at the forefront of Prime Minister Edi Rama's propaganda regarding tourism in Albania.

In the video published before the start of the debate in Davos, before Rama spoke about tourism in Albania during his government, the CNN journalist warned him that he would not allow the word tourism to be abused.

While this brought a reaction from Rama, who asked what he meant by "masturbating with tourism." But Quest's response left the prime minister speechless, putting him in an awkward moment that he was forced to laugh through.

Excerpts from the debate:

Quest: So what is the title of this session? Well, it's about tourism. One thing I told the panelists before they came here is that I wasn't going to let this panel turn into a general masturbatory discussion about how wonderful tourism is. Everyone on this panel knows the statistics, 10% of the world's population, 12% in some cases, the GDP of this country or that, millions or tens of millions of visitors. That's not what we want. That just leads us into a cycle of debatable discounting and self-aggrandizement. Instead, let's focus on the challenge.

Ahmed Al-Khateeb: It's hard to tell a banker not to use numbers.

Quest: You can use numbers. Of course you can use numbers. In fact, since you raised your head above the barricade, let's start with you.

Rama: Richard, can you explain to us what general masturbation means?

Quest: I will draw a diagram behind the panel.

Rama: I've never heard the term 'general masturbation'.

Quest: Well, I guarantee you that we are the only panel that started with these words. So, nothing else, we have broken some taboos here in Davos. Okay, according to protocol, let's start with you, Mr. Prime Minister.
