Incinerator of Tirana/ Detention periods end, Pëllumb Abeshi is released

The terms of detention are over, the Special Court of Appeal has released 68-year-old Pëllumb Abeshi, former official of the Ministry of Environment, from his cell.

Abeshi was currently being held in prison for the Tirana incinerator.

"The defendant Pëllumb Abeshi, on 08.01.2024, submitted to the Special Court with the object: Extinction of the security measure "Arrest in prison", assigned to him by decision no. 20, dated 27.03.2022 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime. At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with a panel composed of judges Elsa Ulliri, Irena Gjoka and Flora Hajredinaj, decided: Acceptance of the request and cancellation of the security measure "Arrest in prison" , assigned to citizen Pëllumb Abeshi by decision No. 20, dated 27.03.2022 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime. The immediate release of the defendant Pëllumb Abeshi is ordered if he is not convicted, arrested or detained for any other criminal offense" , the Special Anticorruption Court announces.

GJKKO informs that an appeal can be made against this decision within five days, starting from the day after the communication of the decision.
