Production in collapse, except construction, all activities in decline

All manufacturing activities in the country recorded a decline in sales, except for construction in the last quarter of 2024.

Production and sales have declined in key economic activities, according to short-term statistics published today by INSTAT.

Domestic production has been struggling for more than three years, due to losses stemming from the fall of the euro, rising labor costs, and falling foreign demand.

Industry, sales fell by 14.4%

The net sales volume index in the industry sector decreased by 14.4% in the last quarter of 2024 compared to the same period a year earlier.

The volume production index decreased by 13.7%, compared to the same period a year earlier. The number of employees index decreased by 6.5%, compared to the same period a year earlier, while the wage fund index increased by 1.9%, compared to the same period a year earlier.

Energy sales fell by 0.8%

Even in the energy production sector, the net sales volume index decreased by 0.8% in October-November 2024, compared to the same period a year earlier.

The volume production index decreased by 13.5%, compared to the same period a year earlier, while the employment index decreased by 6.0%, compared to the same period a year earlier.

On the other hand, the wage fund index increased by 4.0%, compared to the same period a year earlier.

Water supply, sales fall, employees increase

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the net sales volume index in the waste treatment and supply sector decreased by 4.4%, compared to the same period a year earlier.

The volume production index decreased by 2.5%, compared to the same period a year earlier, while the employment index increased by 1.2%, compared to the same period a year earlier.

The wage fund index increased by 10.8%, compared to the same period a year earlier.

Construction, sales increased by 2.8%

In the Construction activity, in the fourth quarter of 2024, the net sales index in volume increased by 2.7%, compared to the same period a year earlier. The production index in volume increased by 1.9%, compared to the same period a year earlier.

The index of the number of employees increased by 1.8%, compared to the same period a year earlier, and the wage fund index increased by 16.9%, compared to the same period a year earlier./ Monitor
