Spain/ 200 thousand euros for Albanian killers for the execution of the port

A criminal organization involved in cocaine trafficking in the port of Barcelona ordered the murder of David Caballero, a well-known port worker, who was executed on November 15, 2024. Caballero, known as "Bubito", was shot twice in the head while having breakfast in a bar in Montgat. The crime is suspected to be the result of several wiretapped phone conversations between members of a clan, which were recorded by the Civil Guard during a drug trafficking investigation.

The conversations show that five people have been charged with conspiracy to murder Caballero, as suspicions about him were high. They believed Caballero was trying to steal their clients and that he might be a police informant. There were also suspicions of his involvement with the Albanians, a group known for carrying out such crimes.

One of the reasons for the murder was that Caballero had tried to eliminate the leader of the organization, J. C, alias "Lucky", who was imprisoned in August 2024 for a domestic violence crime. The mistake that Caballero had made was that he had tried to bring down "Lucky" using hired killers, while the latter ordered his murder in retaliation.

The killers, of Albanian nationality, came to Barcelona to carry out the plan for a fee of 200,000 euros. After the execution, while "Lucky" was in prison, he received a call from an associate who informed him of the event.

The investigations have led to the arrest of 25 people linked to the drug trafficking organization, where 7 tons of cocaine and 6 million euros, as well as weapons, have been seized. Meanwhile, wiretapped conversations have been discovered that implicate some of the arrested in the murder of Caballero.

According to investigators, the organization also prepared an attempt to bribe a judge to secure the release of "Lucky" from prison, where he was serving a sentence for domestic violence. This case is still under investigation and could lead to charges of corruption and conspiracy to commit murder.
