Tragedy in Koça, doctor recounts dramatic moments at the scene: There are

A major tragedy caused by a fire in Koçan has resulted in 59 victims, according to statements by Xhunejd Ademi, a doctor from the Public Health House, who was on the ground to provide immediate assistance. On the show "People", Ademi recounts the difficult moments from the beginning, when rescue teams were quickly organized to respond to the critical situation.

" First, we were notified that a fire had broken out in Kocani and we were told that there were about 20 victims. Then, the first three teams were mobilized to go to the scene and transport the injured to the nearest hospitals, such as the one in Shtip, due to the small capacities in the hospitals," explained Ademi.

The doctor mentioned that multiple ambulances had picked up patients with deep burns, including two young people – a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl – who were in critical condition and were being rushed to Skopje clinics. “We tried to keep them conscious on the way to the hospital, while other teams were waiting with help, ” he told Euronews.

Ademi stressed that the work was made even more difficult by close contact with the families of the injured, who painfully experienced the first seconds of waiting for news about the condition of their children. “A father approached me with a trembling voice, asking me about his daughter who he couldn’t find anywhere… these moments are essentially indescribable,” the doctor said, describing the situation as a great tragedy for the country.

According to initial reports, the number of victims has increased to 59, while many injured, in serious condition, have been transported to several countries in the region. Authorities continue investigations and interventions to deal with the consequences of this disaster, while the situation at the scene remains critical.
