Spanish police dismantled the first cocaine processing laboratory run by the Balkan cartel, which for five years has dominated the trafficking of this substance in Europe and Spain.

The eight members of this cartel were arrested last Tuesday and are already in prison by court order, in an operation that the Police reported this Friday, the Spanish media write.

The dismantled gang was led by two Albanians and two Colombians.

1000 kilograms of drugs were seized from the operation and before the police entered the laboratory, the Colombian 'cooks' had managed to complete the process of 25 kilograms ready for sale.

It is the first time that the Spanish Police hit a laboratory of this type issued by the Balkan cartel, which for five years has displaced Colombian and Mexican traffickers in drug trafficking in Europe, after taking control even more years ago of the "monopoly ” of the marijuana traffic.

The Balkan cartel consists of many independent cells made up of Albanian, Serbian or Croatian citizens, some of them ex-military.
