The Kosovo Ministry of Health has clarified all citizens who tried to cross the border, but were stopped because they had to submit three doses of vaccine.

In a statement, the MoH clarifies that travelers can cross the border with two doses of vaccine and have a negative PCR test no older than 48 hours. At the same time, the Ministry of Health emphasizes that despite the two doses of the vaccine, citizens must be subject to quarantine for at least 7 days.

Regarding the recent measures against COVID-19 taken by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Ministry of Health explains that:

All measures taken were the result of regular analysis of the epidemiological situation in the country, consultations with health professionals and the Advisory Committee on COVID-19, which were addressed in the Coordination and Evaluation Committee on COVID-19, where the institutions responsible for managing the situation with COVID-19 are represented.

The decision does not necessarily require proof of vaccination with three doses of vaccine to enter Kosovo, also having the possibility of entering with two doses together with the presence of negative RT PCR test not older than 48 hours, a rule that is practiced by countries others.

The decision provides relief for those with three doses of vaccine, due to the significantly lower risk of infection, while citizens of the Republic of Kosovo can enter the country being vaccinated with only two doses, without the need for introduction of negative RT PCR test, and also if they do not have two doses of vaccine, but subject to home quarantine for a period of seven days from entry into the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Ministry of Health recalls that since the middle of last week Kosovo has seen a rapid increase in cases of COVID-19, going up to over 3,000 new cases per day.

Mechanisms against COVID-19 will monitor the epidemiological situation related to COVID-19 on a daily basis and by the end of the week, our institutions will be able to have a more comprehensive picture of what has been the impact of the increase in COVID-19 cases in hospital load and depending on this, as well as the number of new cases in the coming days, all measures could be reviewed.
