Albanian criminal drug gang dismantled in Catalonia, five in handcuffs

Spanish authorities have "dismantled" an Albanian criminal group operating in Catalonia, specializing in the cultivation and distribution of marijuana. According to Spanish media, the investigation began at the end of last year, when the Catalan police Mossos d'Esquadra discovered suspicious activity in an industrial warehouse in Cervera, in the Segarra region. This investigation uncovered a large marijuana plantation and led to the arrest of several suspects.

In the first raid in Cervera, authorities found 277 marijuana plants and 600 empty pots. The facilities were equipped for intensive cultivation with ventilation, industrial lighting and an air conditioning system. After this, a second plantation was found in Manlleu, in Osona, where 567 marijuana plants were seized and another person involved in the group was arrested.

The police operation also included the search of several apartments, where five more people were arrested and 75 kilograms of marijuana buds ready for distribution, 10,900 euros in cash and 25 grams of cocaine were seized. According to police sources, the total value of the drugs seized on the black market amounts to 482,500 euros.

This action has dismantled a dangerous group involved in drug-related crimes, thus preventing the distribution of drugs throughout Catalonia.
