Tearful at the loss of Vialli, Fedez recounts the touching phone call with him and the help he received when he was stricken with the tumor

Tearful at the loss of Vialli, Fedez recounts the touching phone call with him

Italian singer Fedez wanted to thank former footballer Gianluca Vialli who passed away yesterday with a video on social media. He never met the deceased in person, but he was very close to him when the rapper discovered that he was affected by the tumor: "I cried with him on the phone before the operation, he gave me an unnecessary but wonderful hand".

With Gianluca Vialli, Fedez had shared his fears and pains about the disease. The singer underwent surgery for a pancreatic tumor, a different type than the one the former footballer battled for five years. In that dark period Vialli - who did not know Fedez personally - had sent him all the support. Now that the champion passed away, the artist wanted to publicly thank him with a touching video on Instagram: " Unfortunately, I now learned the news of the death of Gianluca Vialli and I am making this video to remember him because he was an extraordinary person who was very close and gave me an incredible hand."

In the video, Fedez also recalled the loving phone call Vialli made to him before the operation at San Raffaele in Milan: " It never occurred to me that I would cry on the phone with a person I didn't know, but he knew the same pain like me. We both underwent the same operation for two different pathologies. I'm so sorry, we promised to meet and take a picture."

Chelsea and Italy legend Gianluca Vialli has died aged 58, five years after he was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Footballer, coach, sports commentator and sports manager, Vialli was one of the icons of football in Italy in the 1980s and 1990s.
